Linnaeus University offers limited Internet access for visitors who need temporary access to the Internet for up to 24 hours. Visitors who need to be able to access the Internet and/or internal University services for a longer period of time are referred to IT-support for help in creating a university account.
Note! Employees and students are referred to the wireless wifi network eduroam.
You are expected to act responsibly. You may not violate or break any applicable laws and / or regulations. Searching for unethical, discriminatory, illegal or similar sites is not allowed. Examples of this are racist and pornographic pages. All access to the internet is logged to enable tracking of malicious code, intrusion and abuse. If necessary, your ability to use the network can be blocked. The Linnaeus University's is an open wifi network, which means that all traffic can potentially be intercepted by other users on the network. If possible, use secure websites (https: //) and refrain from the exchange of sensitive information such as login details, personal data, and bank information.
Linnaeus University saves your E-mail address along with your device's identification (mac address), IP adress and timestamp in order to be able to identify you during time that your Internet access is valid. This information is saved for three month to ensure that we can track any inappropriate use. To access the open wifi network, you must register with a personal E-mail address. The E-mail address is used to identify you as a person.
